School WASH Needs and Gaps Assessment: Galkayo IDP Relocation Sites
Raad Society, in partnership with the Ministry of Education of Puntland, conducted a WASH needs and gaps assessment across three schools in the Galkayo IDP relocation sites—Halabokhad, Jehdin, and Salama. The assessment highlights urgent challenges in water, sanitation, and hygiene, underscoring the need for safer, healthier learning environments where displaced children can thrive with dignity and hope.
The Raad Society, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education of Puntland, recently conducted a WASH assessment across three schools located in the Galkayo IDP relocation sites: Halabokhad, Jehdin, and Salama. The purpose of this joint effort was to identify the challenges these schools face and highlight the most urgent needs of the children and teachers. For Raad Society, the assessment is only the beginning. What truly matters is the commitment it represents: standing in solidarity with vulnerable populations and ensuring that children in displacement settings have access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and learning environments that foster dignity and growth. These initiatives are not just about infrastructure; they are about building healthier schools where children can learn, dream, and nurture hope for a brighter future.
